Tuk tuk drivers will happily take you to all of the artisan places in Chiang Mai, partly because they receive commission for doing so. The shops take you to the back rooms and show you how things are made. I was able to see the silk worms, hand woven rugs, raw jade being made into jewelry and decor, and a silver smith.
